Many politicians and advocates for the Second Amendment Right are saying “This is too soon to talk about Gun Control.” Both parties refuse to debate the idea because it’s considered political suicide. Many people don’t want to talk about it because it’s simply a Second Amendment Right. Well I say we need to talk about it. We should have debated the idea a long time ago. We should have laws already in place to prevent mass massacres from happening. The time should have been before Columbine, before Virginia Tech, before Ft. Hood and before Congress on the Corner and even before Aurora, CO.
Many fear Gun Control takes away your Second Amendment Right, but it doesn’t. If you want to argue that, argue that with the families of all the victims of the shooters who ‘had’ the right to have these automatic weapons. I stand behind the Second Amendment, I believe in that right, and the right to Protect yourself. But you don’t need a handful of guns, or an Automatic weapon to protect yourself with or even to hunt. You don’t need to buy military equipment and 4 guns to stop someone from robbing you. This isn’t about not allowing you to have a gun. It’s about Gun Control and not taking away that Second Amendment right.
This debate never happens enough! It’s a sad day when it is easier to buy a gun than to get Health Insurance in this country.
It’s not Un-Constitutional to prevent cowards from purchasing semi-automatic guns they use to shoot innocent people at school, work, supermarket or a theater. It should be Un-Constitutional that we are not doing anything to prevent it. People want to argue its their “right”. Yet many of them are hypocritical conservatives that don’t even give me my “right” to marry. We need to stand up against the NRA and say “you can have your guns, but I have a right to defend my life from that freedom”!
The NRA, Tea Party and Republicans spin lies of President Obama taking your guns away, which in fact hasn’t happened. In fact he hasn’t mentioned it at all. Nor has any Democrat. Many have tried talking about controlling guns, but not one has said they wanted to take that right away.
What everyone should be talking about is how we can control the purchases of war tactic rifles and Semi-Automatic/Automatic guns to prevent another massacre like those in the past and the one Friday.
Our founders didn’t foresee the Right To Bare arms with Automatic/Semi-Automatic weapons. They foresaw us protecting ourselves from enemies and thieves, Not to kill innocent Americans going to school, or to work or even to a movie. I know in my heart; If they know then what we know now, they would have been more specific.
The Right to Bare Arms and Gun Control are two different things. If you can’t distinguish the two, maybe you shouldn’t own a gun.So when is the right time to talk about Gun Control? the answer is,
Now!
