Hello!
You’ve Got Mail!
This has to be one of my favorite Pre-Fall movies. As we go into September and soon into Fall, I enjoy watching feel good movies with a Autumn theme. I’ve always enjoyed Nora Ephorn films (God rest her soul). This is one of my favorites because the love story is so sweet that you can’t help but to watch it over and over again.
“Don’t you just love New York in Fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies”
Based on the story of “Shop Around The Corner” this sort of Romeo and Juliet of the technological age follows Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) a big Corporate CEO of a Book Store Giant who walks into a small neighborhood book store and quickly falls in love with Cathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan). Not knowing all along the two have been ‘chatting’ via Email in which they later exchange their feelings for one another. The film takes place in the early 90’s when AOL (America Online) boomed and the internet was the start of the World Wide Web.
It’s a modern age (for the 90’s) love story that I love to watch pre-Autumn. I can’t wait for the leaves to turn orange and brown and the air is crisp and chilly. If you haven’t seen this film by now, I suggest you watch it. You won’t be disappointed. Nora Ephorn and her cast of perfect actors are the right chemistry to make you excited for the leaves to fall and pumpkins on porches.
Goodbye.
